From Local Action to Global Progress: Join the Call to Local Action towards the 2026 IMRF

On World Cities Day, we invite cities, regions, and their networks to join the Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees

Launched in 2022, the Call to Local Action is the official pathway for local and regional governments to pledge and report actions that advance the UN Global Compact for Migration and the Global Compact on Refugees.

The Call highlights local leadership and turns localisation into a central driver of the Global Goals. In a climate of tight funding and polarised debates, the Call provides cities and regions with visibility, evidence, and peer support to scale what works.

To date, the Call spotlights 124 local actions from 88 cities and city networks worldwide.

Local and regional governments are invited to share action(s) via the online form or Word template (available in English, Spanish, and French) by 31 March 2026We welcome: 

  • Actions (policies, projects, campaigns, etc. ) that uphold the rights and dignity of migrants, refugees and internally displaced persons alongside their host communities.

  • Ongoing or future initiatives started after January 2024.
