Overview

Brasov pledges to continue the activities of the KATYA Welcome Centre.

The municipality of Brasov established a dedicated Welcome Centre, a one-stop shop providing immediate assistance to arriving refugees. The centre serves as a hub for streamlined registration, offering essential services.

Currently, the centre operates with the involvement of 10 associations and foundations from Brasov, which provide educational services for children, support in finding a job, mental health assistance, and psycho-social support, and interpreters for refugees from Ukraine so they may access medical services with ease. The hub currently has around 500 beneficiaries.

With this centre, Brasov:

  1. Demonstrates a whole-of-society approach by coordinating with local NGOs and international agencies, fostering partnerships towards efficiently delivering aid and support.

  2. Sets up innovative initiatives, including language and vocational training programs tailored to the specific needs of the displaced population.

  3. Sets up transparent communication initiatives so that both refugees and the local population are well-informed about the ongoing efforts and the importance of fostering unity, ultimately combating xenophobia and discrimination.

With this pledge, Brasov showcases a deep-seated commitment to upholding the dignity and well-being of those seeking refuge within its borders.
